Authorities are looking to the public for assistance on thefts that have occurred in the Volcano and Pahoa areas.
According to Hawaii County Police, a utility terrain vehicle was stolen between Sept. 7-8, sometime between the hours of 2 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The vehicle was removed from Route 130 near mile marker 9 in Pahoa.
Police are also looking into a trailer theft that occurred in the Volcano area in April of 2017. The trailer is described as beige colored, double axle trailer that can be broken down into five pieces, which is unique to the trailer. The trailer is 7 feet wide by 28 feet long.
Capt. Kenneth A.K. Quicho said there have been other thefts reported in the Volcano area and he hopes by releasing information about the stolen trailer it will create opportunities to solve the case as well as others.
It is unknown, the captain added, if the Pahoa theft is connected to the missing trailer.
“It may or may not be,” Quicho said. “We trying to generate opportunities to solve crimes.”
Police ask anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact Officer Daniel Ulrich at the Pahoa Police Station 965-2716. Anyone with information regarding this trailer is asked to call Officer Roberto Segobia, also at the Pahoa Police station.
